Getting here
Grand Baie sits on the sheltered north-west coast of Mauritius — turquoise water, calm lagoons and easy sunsets. Here is everything you need to plan your trip.
Fly into Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam International Airport (MRU) in the south-east of the island — the only international airport. Direct flights connect from Europe, the Middle East, Africa, India and Réunion. Grand Baie is in the far north, about a 1 hour 15 minute drive from the airport.
We highly recommend hiring a car — it gives you the freedom to explore the island at your own pace (just remember Mauritius drives on the left). Taxis are readily available too, roughly a 60–75 minute drive.
In particular, we know a wonderful local driver, Shezad, who can arrange your transfer — and, with his network of fellow drivers, sort out taxis for the whole trip.
